Cecil Deighton (BGS 1940-1966)

The time we bought "Snoddy" Deighton his first biro only for him to confront us the next day saying it had leaked inside his pocket leaving his shirt and jacket with a large blue stain. I also enjoyed listening to Snoddy`s account of the fencing lessons at one of the German universities where he would talk of the duelling scars. "You have to hack, hack boy!" This was demonstrated with an imaginary epée and one finger constantly in his mouth.

Edwin Killick (1955-1962)

Snoddy's German "Diktat" comes to mind. He would always say "Punkt. Full stop there." as well as Spike Jones' high speed arrival on his bike, there was the well known outburst of "There's far too much… NOOISSEE!"

Barry Smith (1955-1962)
