Peter Blakebrough (BGS staff 1979-1984)

Peter taught English at BGS from January 1979 to summer 1984. It was his second teaching job, the first having been in London where he was also born and grew up. In the autumn of 1984 Peter started a full time MA course at London University, returning to Boston at week-ends. After the one-year course he took up a post just below deputy head at Kitwood Boys' School in Boston.

Peter was at "Kitwood" until January 1988 when he did a term's secondment to the Education HQ at Lincoln. While working in Lincoln, he secured a deputy headship in Kent.

It was in 1994 when changes in the organisation of the school and other issues led to Peter accepting an early retirement package. A few years after this, his marriage ended with Peter having care of the children, an acitivity which took up most of his time.

Peter has remarried in 2001. His eldest daughter, now 21, has finished a Biomedical Sciences degree at Leeds University. His second daughter is at the end of her first year of a B Com course at Birmingham University. Peter's son is 11 and starts at the boys' grammar school in Canterbury next year.
