Chad's Game hits the shops - Former BGS student, Chad Goulding (email), helped devise the Playstation game, Spin Jam during his placement with the Oxford-based computer games company Empire Interactive, as part of his degree course at Teesside University. Chad had to present his concept to the managing director and worked with the company to achieve a commercially viable result. Chad will receive royalties from sales of the game, and is credited for his work on it. Spin Jam was released in Summer 2000.

Luffman savours success - Boston batsman and BGS ex-student, Jack Luffman took his place in the triumphant English Universities cricket team which won the BUSA Home Nations Tournament in Wales. The 20 year-old made an immediate impression with 25 in the first match against Scotland as England slumped to an eight wicket defeat. Unfortunately for Jack hre failed to get to the crease again as Wales and Ireland proved no match for the England side, being beaten by 10 and 9 wickets respectively as England stormed through to gold medal position.

Jordan receives honour - Former OBA president and Pilgrim Hospital NHS Trust Chairman, Peter Jordan has received an OBE from the Queen. Peter's service to the community was recognised in the 2001 New Year Honours list.

Stephen's set for Disney debut - Stephen Sleight won the Disney Channel, Story Studio competition last November (2000). Stephen wrote a story called the Vegetable Patch, which will be made into a short cartoon, to be screened this autumn. Stephen was treated to a day out in London, including a tour of the Disney studios, and he made a brief appearance on the Disney Channel.
