The Old Bostonian Association

Short Stories - The Old Bostonian (02/2001)

Old Friends back together - BGS welcomed some familiar faces in October 2000 when it held a special function for its pupils who left the school 50 years before.

Old Boy takes first prize - Nathan Delicott, 34, collected the Hallmark Vegetable Grower of the Year Award on behalf of his employers, Barfoots of Botley, which is based in West Sussex. His work growing sweet corn, courgettes and a range of other crops on 1,250 acres of land impressed the judges at the awards ceremony in Telford. After BGS, Nathan went to Writtle Agricultural College before working as a farm manager at Freiston Shore.

The OBA treasurer - Tony Austin realised a long standing ambition in February 2001 when he was elected councillor for Boston's South Ward. "The next three months will be a learning experience as I settlt in, but I didn't get elected to sit on the sidelines. This, however, is not a political job and I will do my best to represent all 1,400 of my constituents, not just the ones that voted for me".
