Mark Hildred - A Court Master

Article from the Boston Standard, 25 October 2001

Frampton's Mark Hildred has returned from the World Masters Squash Champsionships in Melbourne with a ninth-place ranking. He travelled to Melbourne with fellow Boston Squash Club player Neil Parker, who also notched up a number of memorable victories.

After a first-round walkover, Mark, 37, who competed in the over 35s competition, beat Aussie Mark Forster for a place in the last 16. He was then knocked out of the main event 3-0 by New Zealand's number one competitor, Gary Duberty, but continued to play well in the play-off event, earning a ninth-place finish after the tightest of victories over American Kevin Kennigan, 9-7 in the final set, and the UK's Gary Hayles, 3-0.

Said Mark: "It was a fantastic tournament. There were about 700 competitors across all the age groups." "I had a great time and it was the biggest event I've ever played in."
